The West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner, in conjunction with the West Virginia Workers’ Compensation Industrial Council, requires insurer response for a mandatory workers' compensation data survey focusing on an insurer’s utilization and costs for Independent Medical Examinations/Evaluations (IMEs) as well as additional rehabilitation services and programs offered to claimants as a result of a compensable injury.
This survey was provided to all companies writing workers' compensation in West Virginia. A company group may provide an aggregated response for all writing companies under an NAIC group code. For example, if NAIC group code 1234 includes Company A, Company B, Company C, etc. then only one response is required but the singular response must include all companies aggregated date, programs, services, etc.
The survey responses should include data for the previous five (5) calendar years – from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2019. If a question asks for the total IME count, the count should include all IMEs performed within the five (5) year timeframe noted above.
When completing the survey, please use only West Virginia data in your responses. For example, if a question asks for the overall physician count in your managed care network, please only provide the count in your West Virginia network. When considering the vocational rehabilitation services questions, please only select programs offered to West Virginia claimants.
Please contact Juanita Wimmer at 304-414-8491 or via email at Juanita.D.Wimmer@wv.gov with questions or clarification.
All company responses are required by February 7, 2020.
