Claims Services

Claims Services is responsible for managing the third-party administrator contracts for the Old Fund claims, including State occupational pneumoconiosis claims, that were incurred prior to the privatization of workers' compensation in West Virginia on July 1, 2005; the Uninsured Employer Fund (UEF); the Federal Black Lung program (CWPF) with dates of last exposure prior to January 1, 2006; and self-insured Security and Guaranty Risk Pools.  The third-party administrator is currently Sedgwick CMS.  Claim Services also coordinates the scheduling of the docket for the Occupational Pneumoconiosis Board meetings and regulates the submission of claim data via EDI to populate the Claim Index.
