| Question: |
Is the Office of Judges a separate entity from the insurance carrier or self-insured employer? In other words, when I file a protest letter in an appeal of a medical treatment decision my case manager has made, is this protest/appeal going before a totally different group of people to be determined? Or is the Office of Judges simply a different department in the Division of Worker's Compensation? |
| Answer: |
The Office of Judges is a state agency, part of the Offices of the Insurance Commissioner, and is separate from the insurance carrier or self-insured employer. Your protest will be decided by people whom are not employees either the carrier or self-insured employer. The old Workers' Compensation Commission (or Division) no longer exists. |
