Agents Licensing Continuing Education

The current continuing education (CE) reporting period began 7-1-2006 and ends 6-30-2008.  Any resident producer whose original license date is prior to 7-1-2007 must comply with continuing education by 6-30-2008. 

Effective 7-1-2006, the continuing education program became a 2-year program.  The reporting period will end 6-30-2008.  Producers will be required to complete 24-hours of approved continuing education, 3 hours of which must be approved in Ethics.  Producers who sell solely thru telemarketing or sell only pre-need will be required to complete 6-hours of approved continuing education, 3 hours of which must be approved in Ethics.
 
Resident producers whose original license date is 7-1-2007 or later will have the remainder of the current reporting period and the next full reporting period (7-1-2008 thru 6-30-2010) to comply with continuing education.
 
License date information can be verified on the Insurance Commissioner’s website, www.wvinsurance.gov, by clicking on Quick Search, Insurance Agent. 

The West Virginia Office of the Insurance Commissioner has contracted with Prometric to provide CE administrative services.   Prometric is responsible for provider approvals, course review and approvals, and agent record keeping of CE credits. Providers are required to report completed hours for producers to Prometric.
